Helping Hand Rescue Mission: News and Notes

* * * Easter is Coming! * * *

We're preparing for our Easter celebration! Donations of Easter Baskets and also supplies and fillings to make baskets are now being accepted. Please join us in proclaiming His love, death, and resurrection by supporting our Easter Program.

* * * Vacation Bible School * * *

We are finalizing plans for our summer Children's ministry. Volunteer applications are being accepted for those that would like help to our Happy Day Express children this summer. If you are a group interested in sponsoring a VBS at the Mission, please contact us directly via phone or email.

* * * Plant a Seed of Kindness * * *

Father Gaines has a dream! And, like all that he does, things are coming together! The Mission's Garden is a place with a fountain, statue, beautiful flowers, plants, tributes to the many that have helped the Mission, and testimonies to our Lord and Savior, such as the Ten Commandments sculpture that Father Gaines is holding in picture to your right. Donations are being accepted to help complete this place of peace in our community. Help with the pedestal need or towards other phases of development. Please mark donations for "The Garden".

* * * Food Pantry and Soup Kitchen * * *

The Mission has been blessed in so many ways. While some food pantries on Long Island have little or no food, we have been blessed with enough to meet the growing demand. Praise God!! But, the need continues to grow and grow in these tough economic times. We provide bags of food to individuals and families in need that come to the Mission for help. The number of people that have signed up is greater than ever. Food that is donated to the Mission is also used to prepare the hot meals on Wednesdays and breakfast and lunch for the Happy Day Express kids on Saturdays. Please consider dropping off some non-perishable food or sponsoring a food drive on the Mission's behalf. The shopping list on the right side of this page lists our current needs. Many will be blessed as a result of your time and generosity!
